An Indiana man is facing animal cruelty charges after he allegedly shot a mouse that was stuck to a glue trap.
The incident happened on May 11th in the town of Frankfort. According to police, the man, who has not been identified, found a mouse stuck to a glue trap in his garage. He then allegedly took a BB gun and shot the mouse, killing it.
Police were called to the scene after a neighbor reported hearing gunshots. When they arrived, they found the dead mouse and the BB gun.
The man has been charged with cruelty to an animal, a misdemeanor. He is scheduled to appear in court on June 1st.
This is not the first time that someone has been charged with animal cruelty for shooting a mouse. In 2017, a man in Florida was arrested after he was caught on camera shooting a mouse with a BB gun. He was also charged with cruelty to an animal.
Animal cruelty is a serious crime. If you see someone abusing an animal, please report it to the authorities.
Glue traps have long been a controversial method of controlling rodent populations. Many animal rights organizations argue that they are inhumane and cause unnecessary suffering to animals.
Here are some tips on how to humanely trap and release mice:
- Use a humane trap. There are many different types of humane traps available online and at pet stores.
- Place the trap in an area where you have seen mice.
- Bait the trap with peanut butter or another food that mice like.
- Once the mouse is trapped, release it outside, away from your home.
It is important to remember that mice are wild animals and should not be kept as pets. If you find a mouse that is injured or orphaned, please contact a wildlife rehabilitator.
